That is the establishment...
Why is Ron Paul ignored by the Right and hated by the Left? Because he represents a true threat to the status quo. He represents real change. I mean come on, how many of those fake suits on the left and right would ACTUALLY try to shut down the CIA. No not Guantanamo, that's small beans. But the entire unconstitutional military-industrial (security) complex.
How did Obama get elected? Because he represented NO REAL threat or change to the system. The left likes to calm and reassure themselves by blaming Obama's lack of any real action or his ineffectual leadership (and corrupt war mongering cabinet) on those pesky Republicans. But the reality is that he only stands to further his political position. Not to actually get in there roll your sleeves up and make some real change even if it meant he was only a one term president.
Ron Paul consistently wins CPAC straw polls while Fox (Faux) News plays last year's booing from Romney supporters (ooopppss how did we put the wrong tape in?). Luckily Jon Stewart has a soft spot for Ron Paul and got it right when he points out that the establishment completely ignores or denigrates Paul's run for the primaries. The only logical conclusion to the fantasy push behind idiots like Romney, Bachmann, and Palin (who's not even running right now) is that they represent the same puppet state that Obama represents. They pass the ball back and forth every few years while ass grabbing in the locker room and high fiving behind closed doors.
Ron Paul is not the panacea. The only way we can hope for a more peaceful just world is to create it ourselves. But he is one of the few patriots to humanity willing to roll back the size of government, end the wars, hold corporations accountable, and to protect our natural rights. The reason America ignores him is that they are scared to death what he represents to the status quo:
